KWIK JONES | Playwright

Kwik Jones has been writing, directing, and producing plays for thirty years. A theater major at Goddard College, Kwik has developed plays such as: A Strange Seed, Forgotten Soul, Voices, Black Like Me, Jupiter is Stormy, Spotlight, The Code, Puzzle Dream, Conversations, Organ, L.U.S.T, Both Sides of the Fence, Sweet Mother Jones, Memphis Bound, Water Boyz, A Cup of Life, Man’s Favor, Devil’s Plan, and many more.

As multi-award winning playwright, in 2024, his play Man’s Favor, Devil’s Plan was nominated for 14 NAACP Theater Awards and was awarded the title for Best Playwright for a 99-seat theater. His ten-minute play The Blind Thief was accepted into the Black Men Talk Play Festival in Chicago, Illinois, and his one-act The Ride was accepted into the 12th Annual Columbus Black Theatre Festival, in Columbus, Ohio. His stellar play, A Cup of Life will be read this summer at the Atlanta Theater Festival in Atlanta, Georgia. Currently he is working on a new play, We Act, which he has been commissioned to write for the upcoming book: Every Great Dream: Visioning African American Theater for Young Audiences, which will be published by Dramatic Publishing. He’s also commissioned by Collective Consciousness, in New Haven, Connecticut, to write a BIPOC Superhero play that will be published on Dramatic Publishing.

Colin is thrilled to be joining Calliope Shorts: In the Kitchen as his third adventure into Calliope Shorts, having previously acted, directed, and written for Calliope Shorts: Campfire Tales, and written for the first ever Calliope Shorts! In addition to professional pickleball aspirations, Colin currently teaches acting at WCU.

Davin Broadhurst | Jeremiah

Davin Broadhurst is a current second year acting student at WCU. Other than spending time on the stage or on camera, he loves playing guitar, taking bike rides, and being in the gorgeous mountains of Western North Carolina. Upcoming future projects include WCU's fall play, 'A Doll's House,' and some awesome short (and feature) films created by local student or indie filmmakers in North Carolina.

TOBY LAWRENCE| Elliot

Toby is a current Musical Theatre Major at WCU, he worked as the Calliope education intern this past Spring, he worked at the Calliope summer camps this summer, and he is so excited to be a part of Calliope Shorts! Toby believes in the power of arts in the community, and is honored to work with Calliope in the wonderful work that it is doing.

Tyler spencer | Cow

Tyler Spencer is a rising Senior studying a BFA in Musical Theatre at Western Carolina University and is so happy to be working with Calliope Stage on The Exchange. At WCU, you may have seen him as Jekyll and Hyde in "Jekyll and Hyde", Carlos in "Legally Blonde", and Lurch in "The Addams Family". "Thanks to all of my friends and family for your support! Luke Younts is so thrilled to be performing with Calliope Stage. He is a Junior at Western Carolina University and studies Musical Theatre. He is a part of Black Theatre Ensemble as Social Media Chair. At Western Carolina, he has been in Tartuffe (Valere), Jekyll and Hyde (Sir Archibald Proops) and Legally Blonde (Ensemble). Favorite credits include Children of Eden (Abel/Ham), The Arkansaw Bear (Mime), Mamma Mia (Harry Bright), and Cinderella (Prince Topher). He would like to thank his family, Grace, Riley, and his friends for always believing in him!
