Seeking WNC Youth perfomer

Casting a WNC-based youth performer for our January 2025 production of Light Chasers, a full-length theatrical dance piece presented in collaboration with Cloud Cult and Bardo Arts Center.

This singularly unique production tells the story of one couple’s life together, from childhood to marriage, sorrow and reconciliation, and ultimately to departure, through the beloved art rock band, Cloud Cult’s, 2010 concept album, Light Chasers, performed live by the band during the performance. Told through dance, movement, lights, music, and imagery, this beautiful and affirming piece finds joy in loss.

This project first premiered in winter 2018 on WCU’s campus with a student company and tracked music. The original workshop production can be viewed here. This remount with reimagined staging, choreography, and design will include professional dancers and performers and be performed live with Cloud Cult for two performances only on January 24.

Calliope Stage Company (Sylva, NC)

Ashlee Wasmund, Founding Artistic Lead/Director, Choreographer, and Co-Creator; Liz Borom, Choreographer & Co-Creator; Bardo Arts Center, producer; in partnership with Calliope Stage and Cloud Cult. 

PROJECT DATES

  • Sylva Rehearsals (actors only): select dates December 16-19, January 14-17 scheduled in coordination with actor availability. NOTE: Youth Performers will be scheduled with consideration of the child’s age and any school or childcare schedules.

  • Tech in Cullowhee, NC: January 19-23. NOTE: Youth Performers will be scheduled with consideration of the child’s age.

  • Performances in Cullowhee, NC: January 24. NOTE: Youth Performer is required to be present for both performances on this date.

ROLES AVAILABLE

  • Youth Actor - Female-presenting, playing ages 4-6, non-speaking, any ethnicity

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Please submit a headshot (or any photo) and resume/list of performance experience to ashlee@calliopestage.com with the subject reading “Light Chasers ACTOR_Your Name”. Please include your child’s availability according to the dates listed above. Actor roles will not be asked to dance; all acting roels will be non-speaking in this production.

After submission, you may be asked to schedule a quick in-person or Zoom meeting with the Director.
